This is probably the number one question people with the illness will have. The truth is no one can say for sure. Glandular Fever/Mononucleosis is an interesting illness in that recovery varies greatly from person to person. Generally even a mild case of Glandular Fever/Mononucleosis can last a few weeks! However, there are many case of the illness where symptoms can persist 6 months to 1 year or even longer. To clarify, you may not be febrile and out right sick for that long. Many people experience a type of "post-viral fatigue" that can come and go for a long time. This is also referred to as the convalescent phase of the illness. The most common symptom reported in this phase of the illness is fatigue. The average length of time this fatigue can persist is 3-6 months after the acute phase of the illness. Hang in there!!
